Day 4

Ana goes home today to Deborah’s house. We are very excited to get her some fresh air and to be with family.

We just were with Barnaby for the morning rounds when a huge team of doctors goes room to room and status updates the oncoming shift so that the tired ones can go home. Barnaby is almost 72 hours old and there is one young doctor who has been with him almost his entire life and looks very tired.

Today he gets issued his sunglasses which all premies get so they can hit the tanning beds. We asked if the glasses were stylish and they laughed. The light therapy helps with jaundice and helps him poop.

Today he will also get a feeding tube along side his intubation tube to start getting little bits of the breast milk that Ana has been pumping.

He is back on the jet ventilator that they had managed to ween him from which is giving him added respiratory support. He had a big day yesterday with the MRI and they said that needing a little extra help after that was not surprising.
